Take it thirty to sixty minutes before you eat. Taking a Protonix just before going to bed is just going to make expensive urine. Also, Protonix isn't the strongest PPI. - My previous routine was to take one 40 mg tablet of Protonix before bed. Over the years if I had forgotten to take it every 24 hours I would usually get strong acid.
